Revival for Recovery is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual support to women healing from addiction and life’s most difficult challenges.
We create safe, empowering spaces where women can share their stories, build supportive relationships, and rediscover the strength within themselves—together.
Our motto says it all: Stay Strong Through Community.
Founded in Harford County, Maryland, Revival for Recovery was inspired by the lived experience of our founder, Kerry Dietz, a woman in long-term recovery who saw firsthand how powerful connection can be.
What began as a few small speaking engagements quickly became a women-led movement—powered by volunteers, storytellers, donors, and allies committed to making recovery visible, supported, and celebrated across Harford County.
Women in recovery often face unique challenges—parenting, trauma, lack of safe housing, and stigma. Revival for Recovery exists to change that.
We show that recovery is not only possible—it can be vibrant, supported, and deeply fulfilling. Through every hug, every shared story, and every donation, we’re helping women rediscover joy and rebuild their lives.
Revival for Recovery
I started Revival for Recovery after I went through some struggles throughout my life.
After growing up with a terrible relationship with an alcoholic, unmedicated bipolar Mother. I wanted to take my struggles and turn them into a positive outcome and break the cycle especially, with God giving me two daughters.
I decided to become vulnerable and transparent about my life, in doing so I hoped to help as many people as I can who may be struggling. I hope to inspire and push others to be the best version of themselves. Owning it, Accepting it and taking Action are the key to you living your best life. Change takes action! I will tell you it may not always be easy, but it will be worth it.
I had addictive tenses throughout my life and could get a hold of them for periods of time, but something happens to women when they reach their 40’s. I’m not just talking about their metabolism slowing down, more wrinkles, or needing more sleep. I’m talking about the change that you really want in your life and are scared to try. You’re scared because you don’t want to fail. Who cares, if you stumble a bit, at least you are recognizing you want more for your life. It’s remarkable if you think about it. If you had the right tools to navigate your life better the possibilities are endless. The anxiety and depression will be at a minimum and the clarity you gain by taking your life back under control is what we all deserve in this lifetime.
If I Knew Then What I Know Now, I will say there are things I would change, a lot of things! I can honestly say now that I’m okay with it. My journey has shaped me into the person I am today. We all make mistakes. No one is perfect and people who act like it have more problems than any of us. I have accepted my past and put it behind me. It does not define me. It’s the past and that’s where it stays. Today, Living in the Present Moment is what matters. TODAY.
I have always said, everything happens for a reason and I truly believe that. Like, for instance, why are you reading this?!?! Most likely because you’re looking for more out of your life.
The experiences that have happened throughout our lives are all part of the journey and I’m grateful for each and every experience. It has made me the person I am today and put me right where I’m supposed to be. I can honestly look at myself in the mirror daily and know I’m trying to be the best version of myself. Do I have bad days? Sure of course I do, we all do! It’s how you handle the bad days that matter the most. When you’re able to handle situations better than your old self would have, that is something to be proud of. Stop having all these expectations. If you live your life with expectations, you will always be disappointed. Life is about experiences. Nothing is perfect, so embrace it and Live in The Moment. They come and go so quickly so find JOY in the little things. Like my grandfather always said, Keep it Simple Stupid. Everyday above ground is a day to be grateful for. Please know there is always hope. Don’t hesitate to ask for help. You won’t regret it. You deserve to live your best life. Stay Strong!

Heidi Gerard is a passionate leader who knows firsthand that recovery and reunification are possible—with the right support. As a mother in long-term recovery, she has turned her lived experience into purpose, building programs that empower women to rebuild their lives and reconnect with their children.
Heidi holds a degree in Early Childhood Education from Towson University and began her career as a teacher in Baltimore City, where she taught Kindergarten, 1st, and 3rd grades for six years. She went on to spend seven years at Inner County Outreach, rising to Director in just four years while serving families impacted by parental incarceration. In 2023, she founded ChrysantheMoms Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to supporting women and children affected by addiction. Under her leadership, the organization launched five programs, including The Lily House, a recovery residence for mothers and their children, Peer Support Services, Hailey’s Closet, and coordination of both the Family Recovery Court and Truancy Court programs in Harford County.
Heidi’s passion is rooted in her own recovery journey. She knows the pain that addiction can have on children and she also knows that when a mother heals, the entire family has a chance to thrive. Her work is grounded in the belief that recovery restores more than just the individual, it restores relationships, rebuilds futures, and gives children the opportunity to grow up with a healthy, present mom.
A single mom of four, Heidi finds strength in her faith and community. She’s an active member of Mountain Christian Church, where she serves on the Kids Welcome Team. When she’s not leading or serving, you’ll find her spending time with her children or cheering on other moms as they take their first steps toward healing.
Heidi is proud to serve on the board of Revival for Recovery and welcomes the opportunity to connect with those who share a heart for recovery and second chances. You can reach her at 443-616-9518 or heidi@chrysanthemoms.org.
